TriStar Pictures: TriStar Pictures is an American film production which has produced many films including, Terminator 2: Jugdment Day and District 9. These two well known films are the reason I picked to research this company. Their first production was released in 1984, which was The Natural. Also, in 1989 all of Coke's entertainment holdings were acquired by Sony Corporation of Japan, who merged Columbia and TriStar but continued to use separate labels.

Terminator 2: Jugdment Day: This is a 1991 science fiction action film. It is the second installment of the Terminator franchise and the sequel to The Terminator (1984). Terminator interests me alot, hence the reason I picked it to research. Terminator 2 was a significant box office and critical success, it had an impact on popular culture and is considered hugely influential in the genres of action and science fiction. The use of technology in Terminator 2 was the most ambitious since the 1982 science fiction film Tron, and would integral to the critical success of the film.

District 9: District 9 is a 2009 South African science fiction thriller. The story, adapted from Alive in Joburg, a 2005 short film directed by Blomkamp and produced by Sharlto Copley and Simon Hansen, pivots on he themes of xenophobia and social segregation. This title was inspired by the events which took in District Six, Cape Town during the arpartheid era. This film similarly links in with the genre of the Terminator 2 as they are both science fiction films. The film was produced for $30 million and shot on location in Chiawelo, Soweto, presenting fictional interviews, news footage, and video from surveillance cameras in a part-mock documentary style format.
