Name of film - rated 15 in cinemas June 24th....

Mac 2 have been thinking very carefully about the certificate rating of our film, this was challenging as it meant we had to think of where the storyline could possibly go from our 2 minute film opening, we decided that it should have a certificate 15 as it is not suitable for young viewers as it would contain, some violence and strong language, and scenes that even some adults would find disturbing.

The genre is psychological thriller so some footage featured would be very scary and confusing with most scenes playing back on the audience mind. We wanted our target audience which are 15 - 35 year olds to have the 'jumping-out-of-your-seat, skin-crawling’ experience when enjoying the film without it actually being labelled a horror movie.
This information is fromhttp://www.bbfc.co.uk/

15 – Suitable only for 15 years and over no one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema.
No one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work.

Discrimination
The work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory
language or behaviour.
Drugs
Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must not
promote or encourage drug misuse. The misuse of easily
accessible and highly dangerous substances (for example,
aerosols or solvents) is unlikely to be acceptable.
Horror
Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic
or sexualised.
Imitable behaviour
Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be
copied. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised.
Language
There may be frequent use of strong language (for example,
‘fuck’). The strongest terms (for example, ‘cunt’) may be
acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated
use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable.
Nudity
Nudity may be allowed in a sexual context but without
strong detail. There are no constraints on nudity in a
non-sexual or educational context.
Sex
Sexual activity may be portrayed without strong detail.
There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour,
but the strongest references are unlikely to be acceptable
unless justified by context. Works whose primary purpose is
sexual arousal or stimulation are unlikely to be acceptable.
Theme
No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is
appropriate for 15 year olds.
Violence
Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction
of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to
be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also
unlikely to be acceptable.
There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence
but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discrete and
have a strong contextual justification.

Films we researched that had the same certificate and the same sort of certificate were: Gothika and Running with scissors.

We thought of 'Insane' for our two minute film opening title but there is already a film with the same title, and we also thought of calling it 'Insane' in French but we're not sure yet. If we do call it 'Insane' in French, it makes the two minute opening different even though 'Insane' in English already exists.

We are also going on a trip to Richmix in London tomorrow which should be interesting.

 Netflix!!!!!!
 This is our draft.
Columbia Pictures: This company is a well know company which also produces well know films, for example, Men in Black and The Karate Kid. These are the wo films I shall be researching. It is one of the most leading film companies in the world. Originally in 1924, Columbia Pictures used a logo featuring a female Roman soldier holding a shield in her left hand and a stick of wheat in her right hand.

Men in Black: Men in Black is a 1997 science fiction comedy film. The film was based on the Men in Black comic book series by Lowell Cunningham, which was orignally published by Marvel Comics. This film is also another film which holds my interest and is recognised by many. Much of the script drafts were set underground, with locations ranging from Kansas to Washington DC and Nevada. The film had a success rate of 91% from crticis.

Spider-Man: Spider-Man is a 2002 American superhero film. Spider-Man is one of the most popular and commercially successful superheroes. This film is very exciting and adventurous and I believe there is quite alot to say about this film too. The three Spider-Man films set new opening day records in the United States in their theatrical debuts.
TriStar Pictures: TriStar Pictures is an American film production which has produced many films including, Terminator 2: Jugdment Day and District 9. These two well known films are the reason I picked to research this company. Their first production was released in 1984, which was The Natural. Also, in 1989 all of Coke's entertainment holdings were acquired by Sony Corporation of Japan, who merged Columbia and TriStar but continued to use separate labels.

Terminator 2: Jugdment Day: This is a 1991 science fiction action film. It is the second installment of the Terminator franchise and the sequel to The Terminator (1984). Terminator interests me alot, hence the reason I picked it to research. Terminator 2 was a significant box office and critical success, it had an impact on popular culture and is considered hugely influential in the genres of action and science fiction. The use of technology in Terminator 2 was the most ambitious since the 1982 science fiction film Tron, and would integral to the critical success of the film.

District 9: District 9 is a 2009 South African science fiction thriller. The story, adapted from Alive in Joburg, a 2005 short film directed by Blomkamp and produced by Sharlto Copley and Simon Hansen, pivots on he themes of xenophobia and social segregation. This title was inspired by the events which took in District Six, Cape Town during the arpartheid era. This film similarly links in with the genre of the Terminator 2 as they are both science fiction films. The film was produced for $30 million and shot on location in Chiawelo, Soweto, presenting fictional interviews, news footage, and video from surveillance cameras in a part-mock documentary style format.

Recently we've just been editing our video and discussing what we're going to research for section B of the exam, and we've also been discussing about more TV dramas.
